The CCTV Treasure Hunt is an interactive game that aims to map the UK’s camera surveillance network one city at a time.

The idea is to invite people to wander various cities and trace surveillance networks by spotting and
mapping CCTV cameras.

The game is played in teams who are given an explorer’s pack which includes a map of the city with the area you must explore. You then must find, photograph and document on your map all the CCTV equipment you see.

The game lasts for one hour and after this all the photos will be added to an Online map which will be featured on the blog which hopes to show to full extent of survalience in our cities.

Contestants are required to wear costumes and props to hide their appearance whilst taking part in the game (also to dress for the weather as will take place outside) The game is part of the North Eastern based Design Event 09 which in 2005 became the first regional design festival in the UK to take place outside of London.

It’s free to take part and will be held at three different locations in the North East this month (October 17, Newcastle; October 24, Washington; October 31, Sunderland
