The golden age of football and football reporting has surely gone. A mixture of astronomical wages, countless different media outlets and the pervasive presence of agents has killed off the relationship in which journalists, footballers and managers needed one another.
Sports reporter, John Wray, has been a journalist for more than 40 years and had the privilege to cover one of Europe’s greatest teams in what can certainly be called a golden age of football.

Since the birth of boxing British heavyweights have had to put up with sneering, ridicule and elitist attitudes, mainly coming from the other side of the Atlantic.
Just a handful of our boys; Bob Fitzsimmons, Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno have ever held a respected world title.
Herbie Hide, Matt Skelton, Michael Bennt and Henry Akinwande are also on this list, but the belts they won barely deserve a mention. Read more

Injournalism’s very own Shaun Wathey has had an article picked up by the world’s foremost press agency, Reuters.
The article, entitled ‘Has Liverpool’s victory opened up the title race?’ published by Injournalism on March 17th, was an opinion piece about Liverpool FC’s recent good form and their push for the FA Premier League.
Shaun Wathey, 21, is in the third year of his journalism degree at Sunderland Uni and covers football as well as Rugby League for Injournalism’s sports section. Read more
Burns beats Gomez to retain title

Scotland’s Ricky Burns produced a fine performance to stop the charismatic Michael Gomez in their Commonwealth super - featherweight title bout.
The fight took place at a packed and rowdy Bellahouston Leisure Centre in Glasgow on Friday night.
It was a clash of styles as Burns, 25, looked at his best, utilising his height advantage and working his jab, while Gomez came marching forward hell bent on a toe to toe war. Read more
EBF Boxing returns to Gateshead

Amir Khan answered his critics with a fantastic demolition of the legendary, Mexican, Marco Antonio Barrera, at Manchester’s MEN Arena on Saturday night.
Khan, 22, won a unanimous decision on points after the fight was stopped in round five, due to a terrible cut on Barrera’s head. Read more
