The White Stripes have been very quiet of late; they haven’t released anything since 2007’s Conquest single. Meanwhile Jack White has been a busy bee with the Raconteurs and his latest spin-off The Dead Weather, not to mention building a new studio and his own record label. Many fear the Stripes maybe be dressed in black and six feet under.

So to keep the fans interested come a fans wet dream; a box set of such limited edition that ducks teeth and golden eggs seem common by comparison.

The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights, which was filmed during the Canadian leg of the last tour and debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, where White made a guest spot and copied kanye west’s outburst at Taylor Swift.

And in truth it’s a super special edition of the new DVD, But rather than add a few extra scenes, whole new dimensions are added. The whole soundtrack is put onto both Vinyl and CD, and comes with a hardback photobook of the tour.

Not finished there though, oh no. Also included is the bonus DVD Under Nova Scotian Lights, showing the band’s 10th anniversary show. AND an exclusive 7” vinyl of Icky Thump Live and The Wheels On The Bus. All wrapped in unique artwork set within a sturdy box sporting a strange looking penguin.

So how much will it cost for all this? A mere £110, and the price is set to rise after the new year. A full review will be done once the money can be raised.

So, while Jack promises another Dead Weather album early next year and a Stripes album after that, this is the best fans can get. Not too shabby.
