kasabian1Wow, what a show. On Tuesday Night Kasabian confirmed their status as one of the best bands of the moment with an outstanding performance at the MetroRadio Arena in Newcastle.

Lead singer Tom Meighan’s snarling stage presence whipped the crowd into a frenzy from the first bell and kept us there for the whole gig.

Such is the bands confidence they opened with Julie and The Moth Man, a B-side to current single Underdog.  The crowd took to it immediately but when the band launched straight into Underdog and Where Did All The Love Go?              the Arena was rocking.

Most of the set was provided by the West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, the band’s latest release and the Q album of the year.

Suttle beauties such as Thick As Thieves and Roll the Dice show the depth of the album and provided some rest-bite from the bedlam for the standing crowd.

The softer songs were peppered throughout the set alongside the more high tempo anthems such as Shoot The Runner and Empire.

And classic hits which made the band: Club Foot, Cuff Off and Processed Beats from their self-titled debut album delighted the crowd.

A raucous rendition of Fire was possibly the highlight of the night and Fast Fuse brought a thumping set to a close.

The lads had just enough energy to finish with a three song encore with final song L.S.F. sending the crowd home singing long into the night.

With the Oasis split seemingly permanent, the time is now for Kasabian to consign the Gallagher brothers to memory and conquer the music world.

On the evidence of this pulsating gig they will have no trouble in doing so.
