Big names set for music festival

The event, set on the banks of the river Tyne in the heart of Newcastle, has expanded to incorporate a full weekends worth of live music over Bank holiday Sunday 24 and Monday 25 May.

The main stage at Spiller’s Wharf is set to host an eclectic mix of big name artists such as Dizzee Rascal, The Wombats and The View. The festival is also known for giving slots to up and coming acts which this year include Twisted Wheel,  VV Brown and Little Boots.

On the other side of the river Baltic Square plays host to the dance stage where you will find Radio 1’s Kissy Sell Out, Boys Noise and The Count & Sinden amongst many others.

Previous line-ups have seen everyone from The Streets and Hard-Fi to The Enemy and local lads Maximo Park take to the the stage at the all day event.

Every year the festival has showcased the best  regional talent which this year comes in the form of Stockton’s The Chapman Family who were one of  NME’s ten tips for 2009.

Previously the festival was completely free until last year when tickets were priced at £3. This year see’s full weekend tickets at £15 or £9.50 for day tickets which includes a donation to Water Aid.
