20 Years at the Forefront of Fashion
November 29, 2008 by Amy Brewster
It’s coming up to that time of year again where 500 leading fashion and beauty brands and thousands of shopaholics come together in style to celebrate the return of the Clothes Show Live.
As usual the event will be taking place at the NEC in Birmingham between the 5th and 10thof December. Shopper’s will be able to splash their cash at their favourite high street outlets and shop til they drop at boutique stalls before taking in the explosive catwalk fashion show. Featuring at last year’s show were style-icons such as Jemma Kidd, Gok Wan, Sugababes and Nicky Hambleton–Jones, but this year is set to be bigger than ever.
There’s something to suit every shoppers style with the show being broken down into six zones. After its stunning debut in 2007 the Black Label Zone is back combining the best of the glamour and design to create the perfect look. It includes ever-popular clothing and accessories from top brands. If you like your vintage the Blue Zone is the place to be. Brand new to this years show is the Purple Zone where visitors will have the chance to enjoy some of the hottest DJ’s around and wind down after a hard days shopping. If you fancy a makeover head to the Pink Zone where all the latest beauty products from top names have been gathered to offer shoppers top tips on looking good for the festive season. The Wellbeing Zone offers shoppers the chance to rest their feet and relax by having spa treatments. For the men out there, there are designs by All Saints, O’Neil, I Saved Laurance, Bench and Bass Couture for you to browse at.
Whilst it’s a fun day out for shoppers, it’s an important week in a young designer’s diary as they will compete to have their designs used in the Clothes Show Live 2009. However, it’s not just about the fashion - young fashion photographers will have the chance to win a placement with one of the country’s top photographers. The event will also see the winners of the Clothes Show Live Design Awards crowned in show. The Design Awards celebrate the best in young British design talent
This is the 20th year the Clothes Show Live is running and is set to be the best yet. Gavin Brown, the managing director of Haymarkets exhibitions said, “We have grown in 20 years, to become the largest fashion and beauty events in the world – when you consider just how important fashion is in the cultural landscape today, that represents no mean feat.”
